Heifer Creek free camp-ground sits on the Gatton to Clifton road, this little known road is actually a better way to 'cross' the Great Dividing range when heading out to the Darling Downs and beyond; it pretty much skirts the main hills and is ideal for caravans, some windy sections but good road and good scenery too. This scene is our 'happy hour', an occurrence around 4pm in every free camp across Australia.
Heifer Creek campsite is also a memorial to the Thiess Family, known Australia wide for their involvement in construction and later on, in coal mining and Toyota vehicle sales .
