Spring is Sprung...2014
From Brisbane and over the Darling Downs, the Burnett district and back home. Spring 2014
Our Spring Trip this year was a shortish one, about 1000km, from home we met up with friends Barry and Joan at Rathdowney. From there we popped over the Great Dividing Range to the Darling Downs. A run north as far as Kinbombi Falls and a good slow trip home via Goomeri and Benarkin, a little over two weeks. Click the map to the left to see the route.

Spring in Goomeri - September 2014
Springtime in Southern Queensland can make for a very enjoyable trip...this trip was going to take us out onto the Southern Darling Downs, sometimes called the 'Salad Bowl' of Australia due to its very fertile soils. On this trip we were accompanied part of the way by friends Barry and Joan. Click on the map to see a larger version, we are traveling clockwise the first stop at Rathdowney..then click on a photo below to see a slideshow of photos taken along the way of this Spring Trip '14.
Just south of Rathdowney there is a free camp along side the Logan River. Update note...we were again in Rathdowney in May 2105 and noticed that there is a 'no camping' sign there now..it may well have been there before but we didn't see it.
The district is quite attractive, the river at this point close to its source is small but evidence of it raging is clear.
